AMSTERDAM and SOEST -- Mobilander, a leading Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) in the Netherlands, has closed a contract with Gemtek Systems for the deployment of access points, gateways and power-over-ethernet components. Mobilander uses Gemtek Systems carrier-grade solutions to continue the roll out of a public WLAN (802.11b) network in major public places across 5 towns (Amsterdam, Groningen, Delft, Enschede and Eindhoven) in the Netherlands. The project encompasses the rollout of a wireless public infrastructure that serves multiple user groups. Similarly to wired networks VPN (Virtual Private Network) solutions, each closed user group will enjoy the highest level of security as the entire wireless broadband access network has been designed to meet the most stringent security requirements. To fulfil these requirements and in accordance to Wi-Fi standards, Gemtek Systems infrastructure for Mobilander deploys 802.1x authentication and secure transit of data traffic. These measures however, do not imply any added complexity to the end user access experience. In fact customers will still enjoy a seamless and user friendly access capability when using Mobilander's network.
The use of most conventional, enterprise hotspot components did not result in a compliance with the specific security requirements, Gemtek Systems total solutions do. As such Mobilander decided to use the all-encompassing solutions from Gemtek Systems, as these components proved their high flexibility and functionality and have been customised to fit the special requirements of this ambitious project.
Pieter van Hoogstraten, Mobilander's CEO: 'Mobilander is well underway to deploy a major public wireless broadband infrastructure in the Netherlands. Part of this strategy is the rollout of a network for multiple user groups. Gemtek Systems proved to be a great help in the challenges we met in the design phase and we are very satisfied to have them as our leading supplier in this area.'

'The complexity of the Mobilander roll-out has been challenging and exciting from the inception of this project. With our carrier-grade total solutions for public access we have successfully demonstrated our competitiveness and strong capability to deliver wireless infrastructure that carriers can rely upon to provide value adding services' says Massimo Fatato, President and CEO for Gemtek Systems Europe.Gemtek Systems Inc.
